Celebrating the last month of music for 2009, I thought it would be best to bring back the 4th edition of ElectroLust.FM. Sensual electro and hot electronica has definitely been a major player on the BNB this year, and thats because of the major surge/trend in this genre of electro (which i'm happy to follow, as sensual music is esentially 'beautiful noise', right?!)

Ok so I broadcasted this as the 4th session, when actually its the 5th. I blame the THC in the thanksgiving food for my brain damage. Nevertheless, the show is the 5th session of Durasoul. This set is compiled mostly of some recent finds I have stumbled on, particularly in the new gazer category I've recently discovered one of my favorite new gazer bands called "Day Sleepers", who have blown my mind with their amazing talents. They took an entire generation of shoe gazer, and molded it into this superior super nova of blurry sound that is VERY addictive. The best thing about this group, is that there isn't ONE bad song that they've done. Its completely uncanny. I've put them up as the first song to start the set. Electro was what I was going to play this week, but as I was designing the flyer for this broadcast I started thinking "maybe I should do a broadcast that sounds perfect for stargazing in the desert in the middle of nowhere at night". This is what the result was. This set is chocked full with cool, crisp glitch IDM intermixed with warm honeyed sounds from an ambient hive. Two distinct sounds, merging together for a harmonious lullaby deep for driving under the stars.

Under Cover Lover 2 (Covers Session

Interpretations are great, especially when they come from such recent (and some classic) heavy hitters out the music world. This is, the 2nd compilation of cover songs I have done with the BNB. The first one, was back in 2007 when I was in Seattle, so this set is LONG overdue.

I was really excited to see Goldfrapp cover the State of Grace song, "It's Not Over Yet". This song was a massive progressive trance hit exposed by Paul Okenfold in his stadium sessions back in the late 90's. This song, reinterpreted in the soft coolness of Goldfrapp's vocals hightens this song's potential 20 fold. And the strangest thing, is that this is a cover of a cover as the Klaxons recently did this one.

Another fine gem is The Rest, doing one of my other favorite songs (as you might know, as I've played/annoyed you every damn remix on this broadcast of this one) of Robyn/Kleerup's "With Every Heart Beat". This luscious electro hit is reimagined into a blurry shoegazer track. Incredible!

And lastly, the beginning and end tracks for this set. The first is a heartbreakingly beautiful rendition of Bjork's "Joga" by PS22 elementary school 5th graders out in Stanton Island, NY. The last is Roisin Murphy, Amanda Ghost, Cock'n'Bull Kid, and Sinead O'Connor singing a cover of Chaka Khan's "I'm Every Woman" (This too was also covered by Whitney Houston back in the day). This song was created for the UK Based "Action Aid", an org helping those out in poverty.

Hello BNB'ers, and welcome back this week. The Autumn is kicking in some amazing weather on the Pacific coast this year, which is perfect for kicking back and listening to ambient and mellow downtempo. Last week I mentioned that I was going to be dj'ing a versus set with Nina Grey, however it is postponed for later down the line. Instead, I'm bringing you back my absolute FAVORITE type of music to spin and listen to, which is ambient. This set has delicious glitch, slumbering electronic mellow ambient, shoegazer, and a bit of heroin house. This is also a dedication to my friend John out in the bay area, whose incredible music knowledge in the fields of ambient helped inspire this great set. I will say hands down, that this is one of my all time favorite sets I have dj'ed in the history of the BNB.

Three Dollar Disco Three

Howdy! This is the 3rd edition of $3 Disco, which originally was a basic dance set that emerged into a pure disco set. This one ranges with extremely hard to find classic and foriegn disco intermixed with new hits and electro fusions. Below the tracklist you will see one of my favorite obsessions in Italian Disco, Heather Parisi.

Born in Hollywood, Heather grew up training in classic ballet, and was a part of SF ballet as a youth-teen. She was discovered on vacation in Italy while dancing in a Discotheque, and overnight she became one of Italy's biggest television stars, often appearing in the ever popular variety shows (Fantastico). The track on this playlist is from Fantastico 5 in 1984. This may not sound too American Disco'esque, but in Italy, Italian Disco (ItaloDisco) can branch onto the fusion of when disco merged with 80's classic dance. A recent major surge in modern electro has captured the classic elements of this genre, causing a great mix refreshed dance tracks. Check it out below!

I'm back up in San Francisco for the week (and will be doing 2 broadcasts up here). Its about 30 - 40 degrees cooler back up here which is a welcome change from the blistering Summer heat of Los Angeles. Also, its nice to breathe! Currently North of Los Angeles (right past the valley), a raging forest fire is sweeping at a massive rate, causing the sky to cloud up and rain large amounts of ash all over Los Angeles and surrounding areas.

I figured while I was up here, what better music to remind me of living here than playing music started out here in Mash Up Central (Thanks to Adrian and Mysterious D of the legendary club Bootie). Jeez its hot here in Los Angeles. Its 107 degrees at the moment while I upload this set to you. The nights here remind me of Atlanta sans humidity, but its nice to have warm Summer nights again. Its been a while since I've had them!

This Mortal Broadcast, the foundation of The Beautiful Noise Broadcast, is up this week, giving you an hour of shoegazer gorgeousness! Iâm happy to present one of my favorite new shoegazer obsessions, Autorotation. Their music is filled with beautiful glitchy textured backgrounds intermixed with dark rich blurry waves of warm instrumental bliss. There are elements that will remind you of Mahogany, Worm is Green, Seely, and Broadcast at timesâ and just when youâve think youâve pigeonholed their sound, itâll completely change direction into Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, and then Aphex Twin. I think most importantly overall, is that I just simply love the vocalist. Its that clean beautiful voice that just trembles the love, romance, and bliss of shoegazer that I miss so much. And rather than rehash back through the 90âs trying to score a hit of nostalgia, as Iâm known to do, Autorotation perfectly satiates the feelings that shoegazer brings. This broadcast is a thank you session for all those that have supported the show recently and over the years. I figured I would compile a session dedicated to the artist you seem to like the most (recently), which was Pogo.

"Pogo is an emerging electronic music artist in Perth, Western Australia. He is known for his work recording small sounds from a single film or scene and sequencing them to form a new piece of music.

His most notable track, Alice, a composition of sounds from the Disney film âAlice In Wonderlandâ, was received with much success gaining 3 million views on YouTube by July 2009. Pogo has since produced tracks from films like âMary Poppinsâ, âHarry Potterâ and âThe Sword In The Stoneâ." -Last FM

I compiled a bunch of his tracks and mixed them with a few classics, and added a nice dance remix of Cocteau Twins. Hey BNB'ers! I'm moving (isn't this always the theme?) again, but not to a new city. I'm staying in Los Angeles for another year, but compromised my desire to be back in the heart of downtown SF, by living in the best place in the city, Los Feliz. I absolutely love the district and hope that this change will bring much inspiration for better sets!

So my microphone broke, so I had to get another one (I hope the sound isn't too weird). I was trying to upload this before my trip, but had to upload once I arrived. I just drove 6 hours up the 5 North to San Francisco this weekend to spend time with friends. It is amazing how the weather in California goes from 103 degrees to 40 degrees in a matter of 4 miles! San Francisco is foggy and beautiful as ever.

My sisters were the heroes of my youth, especially when it came to music. At a young age my sisters played me music that they loved (Cocteau Twins, The Cure, Psychedelic Furs, Siouxsie..) and it really stuck with me. I don't think that I would be doing this show if it wasn't for them.

Also on the set is a dedication to Elissa Hadley, an amazing singer, and a mentor in my upbringing. She was my sisters best friend out in Athens Georgia. As a young teen I idolized her, and wanted to grow up and be as crazy as her. In 2006 she died of Cancer, and everyday I still think about her, and how I wish her death wasn't real.

This Mortal Broadcast 10 (Anniversary Collection Series)

This is the 10th session of This Mortal Broadcast! I'm so glad to see that the BNB is still going on and this show is still one of the top loved genres. I started off this Broadcast (I believe it was the 3rd broadcast of the show on Libsyn) back in Seattle Washington (off of Madison and 23rd). Back then I was TERRIFIED of even speaking (hence the high pitched super duper fast talking nervousness), but after a few dozen shows things fell a bit more into place.

Its funny, I thought that Shoegazer would have sounded better in Seattle and/or San Francisco when I lived there, but I find that, for some reason, Shoegazer sounds the best in Los Angeles. Whether it be in the drunken blurry lights of Hollywood, or in the lazy afternoons of the valley, I can't stop playing the heart throbbing music of Shoegazer.

You will be hearing a hour and a HALF of pure shoegazer and electrogazer. So get your ears ready for warm blurry goodness.

This particular session envokes a sense of placement. You'll be on the rooftops in New York City during a mid-day Summer rainstorm, on the English countryside watching the trains through the rural green fields, over into deep sterile deep space, and down into the nest of your very warm room underneath the sheets in felicity with your bedsheets. .. Hello Lovers. This is the seventh session of Chill Pill, which is all about Chill Out, Downtempo, and Mellow Music. I have an incredible artist featured on the set this week. This group hails from Montreal (and half from Peru), and produces such an amazing experimental gorgeous sound that it paralyzes the heart and satiates the busy mind. Wonderland 2008

Hello Beautiful Noise Lovers! What a year its been! I'm certainly excited to see what new music and new events are going to happen in 2009 (can't you tell from all the exclamation points?!!). Three cities in one year, that is certainly a feat that I don't plan on doing anytime again soon (knock on wood).

As for 2006 and 2007, at the end of the year I always do a session called Wonderland which encompasses the best of the year. For 2008, this set is filled with the best of dance, shoegazer, chill out, ambient, and glitch!

When I moved to Los Angeles, the word 'freezing' never came to mind when living here. This winter is INSANE out here on the West Coast. Yes its in the 40's and thats no big deal to everywhere else, BUT considering I threw out all my winter clothes from being in Seattle.. well I look a bit foolish out here shivering like a chihuahua.

Onto the BNB, this is a new session called Vagabond, which focuses on the 60's 70's and 80's in regards to rock. This music I refused to enjoy when I was younger, but now that my mind has opened up a little bit, well I feel like I've missed out a lot on this music.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, the BNB is back with another session of Sleepyhead Radio. I'm back in Los Angeles and things are completely crazy at the moment. So much that I called this session Sleepyhead Radio 5 (which isn't true, its the 6th session, I'm stupid).

I have to tell you that this is my FAVORITE AMBIENT SESSION I've ever done, and primarily because these tracks are so beautiful to me. I hope that you agree. This session was compiled while watching the sunrise on the dead volcano of Maui called Haleakala. As the sun hit, hundreds of tracks floated in my head and I immediately compiled my set later on in my room in Lahaina Village.

Dawn of the Electro Dead 2

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, its the 2nd session of Dawn of the Electro Dead! This is a broadcast all about EBM, Darkwave, Industrial, Gothic, and all things spooky. I'm doing this session specifically for Halloween! Also, I've added a 'darkwave' genre for all of you who want to listen to this again on the right hand tab of this website.

The picture that was used for this show was from a great photographer and friend, Kimmy Coyne, who I met out in Seattle, Washington. They kind of remind me of a contemporary This Mortal Coil, especially since their album "Beautiful Beginning of a Tragic End" is much like "It'll End in Tears" which is fantastic. Ladies Night

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen. I'm still out in Lahaina Village out in Maui, Hawaii. I just came back from snorkeling in the Molokini Reef, a dead crescent shaped sea volcano which is out on the South Western side of Maui in the 'Alalakeiki Channel 3 miles from shore. The experiences out here are phenomenal and I'm in love with it out here!

Whats up ladies and gentlemen! Sorry for the delay in the broadcast. I'm currently out in Lahaina, Hawaii.. which is a refurbished whaling town out on the island of Maui. There has been a huge internet wipeout that has effected all of the island, so while the broadcast was ready to go on Friday.. I'm just able to get the show uploaded and ready for you right now. I'm currently in an internet cafe that faces the giant Banyan tree that covers most of the block, and the birds are GOING insane because the sunset is happening. Its incredibly beautiful out here, and I'm having problems with returning to the mainland (but love and work exist out there, which trumps the ideology of staying in such a paradise).

This session is the the ninth broadcast of Glitch-a-Rama. This show features the distorted and lovely sounds of Berlin, Sweden, and American glitch-haus. I think that you'll really like this session, as its one of my favorites of the glitch-a-rama sessions.

Hey everyone! I'm just getting finished with my move down to Los Angeles. Its been a crazy ride and unfortunately I couldn't do a show last week because of it. This is my last week here in San Francisco. On Monday, the 29th, I will be relocating out to Los Angeles! My place has been packed in boxes for the past few weeks, and I am so glad to be able to finally transport my stuff, and have it open and ready again.

Retrospective 100, Part Three

This is the last perspective of the 100 shows that I've done over the years, and I want to thank all of you for being a part of the ride. You know, I wasn't expecting to be dj'ing in my closet for one of the 100th perspectives, but I have to because the echo in my apartment has gotten so loud since I'm attempting to move again!

The BNB's 100th Show! Retrospective Part 1

Can you believe it that the BNB has made it this far?! I'm so excited! This is the 100th episode of The Beautiful Noise Broadcast on the Libsyn Server. I am thrilled that this show has gone this far, and to celebrate, I'm doing a retrospective set of 2006 and VERY early on in 2007.

I started this broadcast in a dingey apartment on lower end of Capitol Hill in Seattle Washington. I had just moved from San Francisco, and in my transition, I wanted to pass the time with a few small shows here and there about music. I didn't just want to play a few sets and be done with it... I wanted listeners to want to hear the music.. I wanted to not only learn about new music myself, but I wanted everyone to be a part of the process.

There is so much music out there that we'll never get to hear. I know out there, that there are songs that have little to no exposure that should be out in the public. It was my goal to dig through the massive haystack to find those needles, those amazing gems that make life beautiful in our ears.

This is my goal... and if you have ever listened to the broadcast and found a song that you have absolutely loved because of this show, well then.. I feel accomplished. I will continue to do that, as this job has brought me to some amazingly beautiful tracks and artists in my life.

DURASOUL 4

Hey BNB'ers! I've just come back from a well rested vacation out in my favorite spot in the world, Orondo, Washington. This place is in the Eastern Washington Desert and spans over a dry mountain range and gorgeous blue lake (Lake Entiat). It was definately a change of pace, considering I live in the urban squalor of the tenderloin district of downtown San Francisco. Its a run down district a few blocks west of Union Square, the hub of the happy tourists... but here its filled with run down buildings, drug addicts, homeless families, and people who just can't seem to make it.
Many times at night I hear men and women sing the blues. Occasionally there will be an echo of a trumpet or saxaphone and it gets me in the mood to play the blues. I've been building a decent set list in inspiration to my surroundings. Many nights I'll open up my window, hang out on the ledge and watch the traffic and people go by while this set list plays. I hope you enjoy this session as much as I love listening to it to. Its a jazz session infused with happy soul, motown, heartaching blues, remixes, classic hits, and new artists. I hope you enjoy.

I'm in Los Angeles this week, and giving you another session of sweet ambient and lush sounds. This city reminds me alot of 90's in some aspect, mainly because I used to dream about it back when I lived in Georgia. All the sparkling lights, the busy streets, and bustling bars in the hot metropolis out here gives me more inspiration to send out a heart throbbing soft set of sound.

This set brings back the experimental warm sounds of early dub, especially with the KLF's chill out album. If you are a fan of The Orb, you will LOVE this album, as some of the members of The Orb were apart of KLF at this time period..until ultimately pairing off into their own respective project. I cannot tell you enough how incredible this whole album is.

VIR Bio:

VIRâs Shadow of a Mountain blends elements of post-punk and shoegaze to create a glacial, dark and elegant record. Its been a busy Summer over here in San Francisco, and when things get really heavy, I tend to desire the decompression process more. The minute I get home, I open up the window, lay on the couch and put my feet on the sill. I'll get a glass, or a bottle, or a winery of wine (kidding), and play chill out. While I promised to do House of LeBejia, a broadcast all about the craziness of the 90's and late 80's, I just couldn't do it! I've had an overwhelming sense of desire for harmony in music. Especially because I've been listening to ALOT of progressive dance while walking through the streets late at night. Being that its been a heavy workweek, the broadcast has taken a LEEEETLE bit longer than I had hoped. With that being said I hope that you enjoy this BRAND NEW (i'm a caps-lock-a-holic today) broadcast. This is Lyrical Stealth, a broadcast all about hipster hop, hip hop, rap, r and b, trip hop, and various other goodies about rhyming rapping etc. This is the first of its kind so its VERY BROAD. Expect the 90's to flow in with current R&B, and French rap. Yes. Its weird, but strangely I love it, and it really worked in a funny way. Enjoy!

Ah! Its been a little crazy in the past few weeks. So as you know, the BNB originally started my last day in San Francisco about 2 years ago. I moved it to the libsyn server around late 2006 when I lived in Seattle... and now Its back in San Francisco. Since January 15th of this year, I've been subletting. One time in Alameda, which is an island in the bay area, and then in the Castro District. Now. FINALLY, I've moved into my own apartment deep in the heart of the Tenderloin district, which is the hot mess of downtown SF. I'm slowly getting my things together, so I apologize in the delay from last week.

This is the 7th session of Glitch-a-Rama, a broadcast all about glitch, IDM, and haunting distorted electro! This is probably one of my favorite sessions of IDM so far, so I hope you enjoy.

City Sessions Episode One. Atlanta

The BNB is branching out into different themes this year, and one of the new sessions introduced to the set is "City Sessions", which focuses on not only genre and time period pieces, but dedications to the cities that I've lived in.

Now, the first one is dedicated to Atlanta, one of the main cities that I grew up in. I was raised in mostly in Marietta, but ended up going to high school and college in downtown Atlanta (which took many busrides and trainrides to finally get to my destination). Now while I had a long ride to get to school, I began to listen to more music.. I'm taking over writing for this at the moment. I'm back in San Francisco after my travels to Los Angeles and San Diego. I've been driving alot and finding the perfect music to drive to some of the various coastal towns off the 101. This is kind of a set that mimics the sessions of 'hot music for cheap hotels', 'interstate' and 'chill pill'. Its definitely down tempo mixed in with a bit of lush electronica, shoegaze, and sultry slow beat chill out.

"Hi I'm currently making my way down 101 South and after 12 hours I've made it only to halfway down Oregon from Seattle. Its been mostly darkness on the coast since sundown happened around the Washington/Oregon Astoria-Megler bridge (which is one of the most amazing things I have ever since in my life).. but even at night, what I can see of the shore is gorgeous. I've never seen such heights!

I've parked myself in Florence, Oregon. Since its off season, its a ghost town. All the gas stations and stores are closed, and the only thing that sparkles is the random seedy motels offering free hbo in neon splendor. I'm in a Best Western on the upcurve of the coastal highway... and I figured I'd do this set for you... It just seemed so perfect."

The Beautiful Noise Broadcast is getting its music on early this week as Tennessee Loveless travels to the desert mountains for much needed rest and relaxation for this upcoming holiday. Needless to say, there is another broadcast happening this Friday to give thanks this thanksgiving (or as we like to call it 'thanks-taking') for all the supporters and listeners of this 'little broadcast that could'. In the meantime, this session is filled with soft beats, mellow drones, and fantastic dubbed out songs. After much uploading and re-uploading again, the BNB is back (momentarily). It seems my systems are unstable still, but I'm trying to work on it. The.Beautiful Noise Broadcast, which originated as a seasonal CD compilation in early 2000 has evolved into a fantastic podcast! Now instead of each season, the BNB is available to you every week! Every week carries a different theme and plays out to a myriad of different genres. Examples of specific sessions are below!

2. Trip Hop Scotch- Trip hop, chill out, down tempo, urban bliss.
3. Sparklemotion- 80's noise and dance.
4. Red Hot Robot- Dance, club, and electro.

How to listen to the BNB:

The podcast is free, however donations are always welcome. There are a few ways to listen. The first (and highly suggested) is through I-Tunes. Here is how it works.

If you want to directly download these podcasts to your desktop, all you need to do is right click on 'direct download' at the end of the list of each podcast. Then click on "Save As" or "Save Target As" and you got it!
