Fri, 13 November 2009 This set is compiled mostly of some recent finds I have stumbled on, particularly in the new gazer category I've recently discovered one of my favorite new gazer bands called "Day Sleepers", who have blown my mind with their amazing talents. They took an entire generation of shoe gazer, and molded it into this superior super nova of blurry sound that is VERY addictive. The best thing about this group, is that there isn't ONE bad song that they've done. Its completely uncanny. I've put them up as the first song to start the set. I hope you enjoy this newgazer bliss!

Fri, 7 August 2009 This Mortal Broadcast, the foundation of The Beautiful Noise Broadcast, is up this week, giving you an hour of shoegazer gorgeousness! I’m happy to present one of my favorite new shoegazer obsessions, Autorotation. Their music is filled with beautiful glitchy textured backgrounds intermixed with dark rich blurry waves of warm instrumental bliss. There are elements that will remind you of Mahogany, Worm is Green, Seely, and Broadcast at times… and just when you’ve think you’ve pigeonholed their sound, it’ll completely change direction into Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, and then Aphex Twin. I think most importantly overall, is that I just simply love the vocalist. Its that clean beautiful voice that just trembles the love, romance, and bliss of shoegazer that I miss so much. And rather than rehash back through the 90’s trying to score a hit of nostalgia, as I’m known to do, Autorotation perfectly satiates the feelings that shoegazer brings. Please check out their site below the track listing, and please stay tuned for future shows showcasing their gorgeous sound.

This is the 10th session of This Mortal Broadcast! I'm so glad to see that the BNB is still going on and this show is still one of the top loved genres. I started off this Broadcast (I believe it was the 3rd broadcast of the show on Libsyn) back in Seattle Washington (off of Madison and 23rd). Back then I was TERRIFIED of even speaking (hence the high pitched super duper fast talking nervousness), but after a few dozen shows things fell a bit more into place. Its funny, I thought that Shoegazer would have sounded better in Seattle and/or San Francisco when I lived there, but I find that, for some reason, Shoegazer sounds the best in Los Angeles. Whether it be in the drunken blurry lights of Hollywood, or in the lazy afternoons of the valley, I can't stop playing the heart throbbing music of Shoegazer. You will be hearing a hour and a HALF of pure shoegazer and electrogazer. So get your ears ready for warm blurry goodness.

Fri, 12 December 2008 Its time to feel the warm blur again in the Wintertime. This is the 9th session of This Mortal Broadcast, a show all about shoegazer, electrogazer, and everything inbetween of the hot sultry blur of this genre. This is the last session before the retrospective set, so I hope you really like this. I personally have been listening to this during the melancholy strange times of this South Western transition into Los Angeles California. Its perfect for those slight and minute times of rain out here in this desert country. Its a perfect Greg Aaraki film debut of love and the bewilderment that comes from it.

Thu, 10 July 2008 Hello Gazer girls and guys! Its another session of This Mortal Broadcast, a show all about Shoegazer, Newgazer, and the Ethereal. Its been a rough week as I just got mugged on the 4th of July, BUT I'm trying to get over the whole thing and move on from the event. I've got to tell you though, that in rough times, Shoegazer has always been the best music to listen to. The Cocteau Twins especially! With that being said, this broadcast is jam packed full of songs that soothe the brain and mellow out the heart, so I hope you enjoy. Also featuring on this set is VIR, a band with roots from New Zealand who are now in the Bay Area. Check below the tracklisting for a bio and link to their site with future concert dates.
VIR Bio: VIR’s Shadow of a Mountain blends elements of post-punk and shoegaze to create a glacial, dark and elegant record. Sam Sloane’s mercurial and echo-laden guitar drifts through the record while Natasha Arens and Jeff Paul’s rhythm section build and swell around the escalating tension in Sloane’s vocals. With the band now based in the SF bay area but with roots in Christchurch, New Zealand, the album contends with a longing for home and a sense of loss despite the idealistic urge for challenge and experience abroad. Drawn to the contradictions and contrasts in the U.S the album contends with a futile attempt and defiant struggle to challenge an insurmountable mountain, as a result, VIR produce an album evocative of the American landscape. VIR’s music is unashamedly melodic, honest and affecting. The songs are built on an engaging dynamic of fragility, melancholy, ambiance and intensity. Live, the band is uninhibited in communicating songs of love and loss and the fervor with which they play elevates the music to evocative peaks.
